Create PDF’s for Free (Windows)

microsoft_officeEver since leaving college I have had to create PDF’s on almost a daily basis. The companies I have previously worked for always used a copy of Adobe Acrobat to accomplish this. Acrobat is a great program but once I left the corporate world and started my own business I have always looked for ways to cut costs and finding an alternative to the $299 Adobe Acrobat was an easy way to slash expenses.

A simple google search for “free pdf creator” will pull up a large amount of products that claim to produce pdf’s for free. Most of these products will do just that but some will embed a logo, work very slowly, or eat up enough computer resources to compute a mission to Mars.

I use MS office 2007. Yes, this alone could have been a cost cutting feature but I will save that for another day. Due to the fact that I use this fine microsoft product I am able to install an Add-in called “Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS”. This Add-in allows for me to convert virtually any document used in the MS suite to a pdf file. Once installed the option is found under the Save As menu and it quickly and easily produces a pdf file.

Find it for free here:

Thanks so much! I have been using my scanner software to make pdfs and it was not efficient at all, this is much easier.

Hello Guru, what entice you to post an article. This article was extremely interesting, especially since I was searching for thoughts on this subject last Thursday.
